Hello,
While both products are awesome, I would love to see AC and the SCORM extension for UNITY better integrated into AC.
First, what is SCORM? SCORM or Shareable Content Object Reference Model
Is the primary language that online eLearning content integrates with various industry standard Learning Management Systems (LMS). It allows content from different vendors using different technologies to track interactions and completions in an eLearning course, then pass those completions, quiz results, etc. to the LMS to be stored against a Students profile.
The fact that AC has such excellent WebGL support, it lends itself very well to creating learning quests and scenario-based training products, especially with all the other products it integrates with for lip-synch etc.
However, right now, an AC output game may be able to be packaged by the UNITY SCORM extension (The standard uses a ZIP file (pkzip 2.04g version) to package course content and provides a manifest file that the LMS reads and organizes the course content by how it's laid out in the Manifest.
But more tightly integrating AC and this SCORM extension, all the various activities created in AC could then be scored, possibly based on sequence of events to provide different scores if the user takes a non-linear path to objects verses a more direct linear path. The options would be up to an Instructional Designer's imagination.
I hope that both the creator of AC and the SCORM extension for UNITY (Best $19 I've spent in the asset store since I bought AC... grin) can tightly integrate these two together, for the ability to then create mindblowing WebGL experiences within a SCORM supported LMS (Which every DoD and Government organization is mandated to use, as well as many corporate and education institutions)
To add to this, I also hope that AC will more tightly integrate the WebGL speech synthesis and WebGL speech detection extensions for UNITY, they are kick ass, and it would be great for a user to be able to just talk back and forth to interact with NPCs, or perform tasks simply by speaking. VERY Cool from a learning perspective as well as a gaming one. If I need to post this additional request for integration of the WebGL Speech support extensions for UNITY, let me know and I will certainly do so.
As I said, both products are AWESOME!! and I would love to be able to just identify items, quests, tasks, etc., in AC, with the ability to pass these interactions or scored events directly to a LMS. There is also a new standard out to eventually replace SCORM called the Experience API or xAPI, this further extends the reach of tracking learning events and can gather inputs from watching a YouTube video, attending a Webinar, or playing a game on a mobile device not currently connected to the Internet, allowing it to "Synch" up with what the xAPI calls a LRS (Learning Records Store) that can track any number of specific users experiences across multiple learning domains and/or platforms.
